OPENING TIP: Chicago State men's basketball returns to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center for a pair of Western Athletic Conference home games this week that begins tomorrow night against Utah Valley with the opening tip set for 7:05 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU: The Green and White head back home after falling in road conference contests last week to CSU Bakersfield (61-91) and Grand Canyon (55-89). CSU is led offensively by junior guard Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) as he is producing a team-best 13.3 points a game while connecting on 87 percent (59-of-68) from the free throw line. Senior forward/center Deionte Simmons (Detroit, Mich./Lewisville (Texas)) ranks first on the team with 5.6 rebounds per game and has connected on a team-leading 59 percent (81-of-138) from the field, and is second in scoring at 10.8 points a game. Senior guard Glen Burns (West Memphis, Ark./West Memphis Christian) has tallied team-high numbers of 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game in addition to averaging 9.8 points per contest.

SCOUTING UVU: Utah Valley heads into Thursday's contest against CSU with a 16-7 season record and holds a conference record of 5-2 despite falling on the road at Seattle last Saturday by a score of 55-54. Six players are now scoring in double figures for the Wolverines on the season. Redshirt senior center Akolda Manyang leads the team in scoring (13.5 ppg), rebounding (8.5 rpg), blocked shots (2.4 bpg) and field-goal percentage (.629). Graduate student guard Kenneth Ogbe is second in scoring at 13.2 points a game, while redshirt senior guard Brandon Randolph is dishing out a team-best 4.8 assists a game to go along with scoring 11 points per game for UVU.

SERIES HISTORY: The all-time series between Chicago State and Utah Valley dates back to the 2007-08 season with the Wolverines holding a 16-5 advantage. UVU captured an 83-58 victory over the Cougars in the teams' first meeting of the season at the UCCU Center in Orem, Utah on Jan. 13.

WAC CO-LEADER: Freshman forward Cameron Bowles (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood) ranks in a tie for first in the league with Seattle's Aaron Menzies in total blocked shots with 17 swats (2.1 bpg) against conference opponents.

WAC TOURNEY TICKETS ON SALE: Tickets for the 2018 WAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas are now on sale. The tournament starts on Wednesday, March 7 with the women's first round of play, followed by a full day of men's action on Thursday, March 8.
