OPENING TIP: The Chicago State men's basketball team continues its three-game road swing in Las Cruces, N.M. on Thursday night with a Western Athletic Conference contest against league-leading New Mexico State in a live WAC Digital Network broadcast from the Pan American Center beginning at 8 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU: CSU kicked off its road swing on Feb. 15 with a close battle at WAC foe UMKC in historic Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City before falling by a score of 76-67 despite receiving a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds from senior forward/center Deionte Simmons (Detroit, Mich./Lewisville (Texas)), his third of the season. The Cougars have three players producing double figure scoring averages with junior guard Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) leading the way at 13.4 points per game followed by Simmons is the team leader in rebounds (5.8 rpg) and field-goal percentage (.594) while averaging 11.7 points a game to rank second in scoring. The final player averaging double-digit points is senior guard Glen Burns (West Memphis, Ark./West Memphis Christian) with 10 points a game in addition to posting team-high averages of 3.5 assists and 1.3 steals per contest.

SCOUTING NMSU: New Mexico State enters the week with a 22-5 record on the season that includes a 9-2 league record after dropping a pair of conference road contests last week to Utah Valley (79-86) and Seattle (63-73, OT) which snapped its 11-game winning streak. Graduate student guard Zach Lofton leads NMSU in scoring with an average of 20.2 points a game in addition to shooting 76 percent from the free throw line, 47 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range. Senior forward Jemerrio Jones paces the Aggies with team leading numbers of a WAC-leading 12.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game, and is now averaging 10.4 points a game.

SERIES HISTORY: New Mexico State now holds a 13-1 lead in the all-time series against Chicago State with wins over the last nine meetings between the two teams since 2014. The Aggies captured a 97-60 win in the first matchup of the season from the Jones Convocation Center in Chicago on Jan. 6 with Sims leading all scorers with 20 points.

LINEUP MAINSTAYS: The lone mainstay in Coach Dildy's starting lineup this season has Burns as he has started all 28 games in the backcourt.
