Opening Serve – Chicago State volleyball concludes its home schedule with two matches this week at the Jacoby Dickens Center as part of homecoming week. The Green and White battle Seattle U on Thursday night with a start time of 7 p.m. then return to action on Saturday morning for senior day against Utah Valley that starts at 11 a.m.

Scouting the Cougars – The Cougars head into this week's home finale sporting a season record of 8-21 and has posted a 2-10 mark in conference play. CSU opened its three-match homestand last Saturday with a 3-1 defeat to visiting CSU Bakersfield which followed a 3-0 road loss at Drake on Oct. 29. Junior libero Megan Klavitter (Fenton, Mich./Linden) leads the WAC in total digs (604) and digs per set (5.66) to go along with posting a team-leading 31 service aces. Senior outside hitter Lauryn Dela Cruz (Provo, Utah/Timpview) has produced a team-best 3.94 points and 3.52 kills per set on the season.

Scouting the Redhawks – Seattle U comes into tomorrow night's showdown with CSU sporting a 9-16 record and is tied for eighth place in the WAC with CSU at 2-10. SU dropped a pair of home matches last week at home with 3-0 defeats to New Mexico State and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. The Redhawks are led offensively by freshman outside/opposite hitter Sofia Sanchez, who has recorded a team-best 203 kills for an average of 2.33 per set. Senior setter Shae Harris is dishing out a team-leading 9.52 assists a set and senior middle blocker Maja Stojanovic leads Seattle in total blocks (98 – 14 solo, 84 assisted) and blocks per set (1.10).

Series History – Seattle has tallied an 11-0 advantage in the all-time series with Chicago State since the 2013 season. The Redhawks produced a 3-0 victory over the Cougars in the teams' first meeting on Sept. 22 at Seattle Academy.

Scouting the Wolverines – Utah Valley holds a 14-11 season record heading into its match at Kansas City tomorrow while sitting at 6-6 in WAC play after extending its win streak to three in a row thanks to a 3-0 victory at California Baptist and a five-set home win over NM State. Freshman outside hitter Kazna Tarawhiti leads UVU with an average of 4.05 kills per set followed by junior middle blocker Jasmine Niutupuivaha posting team-highs of a .308 hitting percentage and junior setter Madi Wardle is recording an average of 5.87 assists per set to lead the Wolverines' offense.

Series History – UVU currently holds a 22-1 lead over Chicago State in a series that began in 2007 which has spanned through the Independent, Great West Conference and WAC ranks. The Cougars snapped a 22-match losing streak in the series on Sept. 20 with a five-set win over the Wolverines at Lockhart Arena in Orem, Utah.

Aiming to Take Another Record - After capturing the school's Division I career digs record last month and cracking the WAC's career Top 10 last Saturday, Klavitter is now aiming to claim another record as she currently has tallied 604 digs for the season to rank second on the WAC's single-season list and needs 73 more to pass the record of 676 set in 2006 by San Jose State's Jessie Shull.

Honoring Seniors – In Saturday's home finale against UVU, the Green and White will honor four seniors in Dela Cruz, Ludmila Bomfim (Belo-Horizonte Minas Gerais, Brazil/Escola Estadual Pedro II), Gabby Pearl (Farmer City, IL/Blue Ridge) and Carmen Carvajal (Lugo, Spain/I.E.S Lucus Augusti) in a pre-match ceremony.

Up Next – Chicago State heads to the southwest for its final road swing of the season beginning on Nov. 15 at UT Rio Grande Valley in a live WAC Digital Network broadcast starting at 7 p.m.
