CHICAGO -

OPENING TIP – Chicago State men's basketball concludes its season-opening eight-game road swing in downstate Peoria tomorrow afternoon when it battles host Bradley in a non-conference contest at BU's Carver Arena live on ESPN3 with the opening tip slated for 1 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU – The Green and White finished off the Grand Cayman Islands Classic earlier this week with the Mainland Tournament in Johnson City, Tenn., as they fell to host East Tennessee State (61-86) and Jackson State (68-81). CSU is led in scoring by senior guard Anthony Harris (Gary, Ind./Griffith (Ind.)) with an average of 14 points per game as well as recording a team-best 10 steals on the young season. Harris is also shooting 82 percent from the free throw line, 48 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range. Senior guard Rob Shaw (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) ranks second on the team at 10.9 points a game while dishing out a team-leading 4.4 assists per contest, and junior forward Christian Jacob (Gary, Ind./Westside) has tallied a team-best 6.6 rebounds per game.

SCOUTING BU – Bradley brings a 5-1 record into tomorrow's in-state battle after returning to the country with the Cancun Challenge title after claiming wins over SMU (75-62) and Penn State (59-56) earlier this week in Mexico. Sophomore forward Elijah Childs leads BU, who currently has four players averaging double figures, with 14.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. Junior guard Darrell Brown has posted a team-leading 38 assists a game and is scoring 14.2 points a game to rank second on the team. Junior center Koch Bar (11.7 ppg) and senior guard Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye (11 ppg) are also averaging double figures for the Braves.

SERIES HISTORY – Bradley holds a commanding 16-0 advantage in the all-time series with Chicago State that includes a 13-0 mark in Peoria. The Braves produced an 83-58 victory over the Cougars at the Jacoby Dickens Center in Chicago last season on Dec. 16, 2017.

THE FIRST TIME – Junior walk-on forward Eugene Witherspoon (Chicago, Ill./Lincoln Park) made the most of his first game in a CSU uniform at Akron on Nov. 16 as he grabbed four rebounds and scored two points against the Zips in 14 minutes of play.

FACING THE LAND OF LINCOLN – Tomorrow's contest at Bradley continues CSU's yearly tradition of taking on multiple opponents from the state of Illinois. Following the BU game, the Cougars have seven more games in the coming weeks against East-West, Eastern Illinois, Trinity Christian, DePaul,
Northwestern, Western Illinois and Northern Illinois.

SHAW SETTING CAREER HIGHS – Shaw set a pair of career highs on Tuesday against Jackson State as he scored 19 points and dished out nine assists in 37 minutes of play. The new scoring total eclipsed his previous career high of 18 points that was set on Monday versus East Tennessee State.

CSU'S PUBLIC CONNECTION – The Cougars have four players on this year's roster that played high school ball in the tough Chicago Public League. Representing the Public League this season are Bowles (Kenwood), sophomore guard Travon Bell (Chicago, Ill./Mather) (Mather), redshirt sophomore guard Michael Johnson (Chicago, Ill./Harlan) (Harlan) and junior forward Eugene Witherspoon (Chicago, Ill./Lincoln Park) (Lincoln Park). In addition, Coach Irvin was an all-city and all-state honoree as a point guard at Julian High School on the city's far southwest side.

UP NEXT – The Cougars open a three-game homestand at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center on Thursday, Nov. 29 against local foe East-West in a live WAC Digital Network broadcast that begins at 7:05 p.m.
