CHICAGO - The Chicago State men's basketball team makes its return to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center for a pair of Western Athletic Conference home games this week that begins on Thursday night against Seattle U which will tip-off at 7:05 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU – Chicago State heads into this week's action with a record of 6-19 on the year which includes a 1-7 tally in conference play. The Cougars return to the friendly confines of the Jones Convocation Center after falling to league-leading New Mexico State on the road last Saturday night by a score of 86-51 with senior guard Clemmye Owens V (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers) posting a team-best 23 points. Sophomore guard Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) leads CSU in scoring with an average of 18.5 points per game, while senior guard/forward Trayvon Palmer (Milwaukee, Wis./Brown Deer) has produced team highs of 9.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals a game to go along with averaging 14.8 points per contest and a WAC-best 13 double-doubles. The team's leading assist maker is Owens V as he dishes out an average of 2.1 a game.

SCOUTING SU – Seattle heads into the Windy City sporting an 11-11 season record and has amassed a 3-4 mark against conference opponents after capturing a 63-50 victory at Utah Valley last Saturday night for its second consecutive win. The Redhawks have three players recording double figure scoring averages with redshirt senior guard Brendan Westendorf producing team high totals of 15.6 points, 3.5 assists and 1.7 steals per game in addition to shooting 87 percent from the free throw line. Redshirt sophomore center Aaron Menzies currently averages 12.3 points and grabbing a team-high 6.1 rebounds a game while posting a .527 field-goal percentage and 15 blocked shots, while senior forward William Powell is averaging 10.8 points per contest.

SERIES HISTORY – Seattle has recorded a 6-2 advantage in the all-time series with Chicago State with the Redhawks posting a five-game winning streak in the series. SU defeated the Cougars by a score of 65-50 on Jan. 14 at Key Arena in Seattle during the teams' first meeting of the season.

HONORING CSU'S SCHOLAR-ATHLETES – CSU Athletics will honor 84 of its student-athletes for accumulating a 3.0 or better grade point average in the past two semesters with CSU Scholar-Athlete recognition at halftime of Thursday's game. Among the honorees are five members of the men's basketball team – Charles Dent (Chicago, Ill./Chicago Military Academy - Bronzeville), Jordan Madrid-Andrews (Denver, Colo./Bishop Machebeauf), Patrick Szpir (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling), Palmer and Sims, Jr.

DOUBLE VISION – Over their last five games, the Cougars have had three players produce double figure scoring averages in Sims, Jr. (18.4 ppg), Palmer (15.6 ppg) and sophomore guard Anthony Eaves (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) (10.3 ppg).

UP NEXT – The Cougars conclude their weekend home slate with a WAC contest this Saturday afternoon against Grand Canyon with the opening tip set for 2:05 p.m.
