Sims, Jr. Posts 21 Points for Cougars in WAC Contest at Grand Canyon

PHOENIX – Sophomore Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) scored 21 points to lead the Chicago State men's basketball team as it took on host Grand Canyon Thursday evening in a Western Athletic Conference contest at GCU Arena.

The Antelopes had three players score in double figures as they posted an 82-59 victory.

Sims, Jr. connected on six of his seven free throw attempts and shot 3-of-6 from three-point range for the Cougars. He also recorded six rebounds, two blocked shots and two stelas on the night.

Senior Trayvon Palmer (Milwaukee, Wis./Brown Deer) inched a little bit closer to CSU's 1,000-point club as he produced 15 points and hit all six of his free throw attempts in the contest. Sophomore Anthony Eaves (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) added nine points and dished out four assists, and freshman Patrick Szpir (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling) grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds.

Joshua Braun scored a game-high 29 points to lead three Grand Canyon players that finished the game scoring double figures.

The Green and White conclude their road swing in California this Saturday night at league-leading CSU Bakersfield with the opening tip set for 9 p.m.
