Men’s Basketball Opens Two-Game Road Swing at No. 13 Notre Dame

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Chicago State men's basketball team opened a two-game road swing here tonight as No. 13 Notre Dame captured a 105-66 victory in a non-conference showdown at Purcell Pavilion.
 
CSU held a 43-34 advantage in bench points and a slim 14-13 duke in offensive rebounds while both team tallied nine steals in the contest.
 
Three players scored in double figures for the Green and White with junior Fred Sims, Jr. producing a team-leading 19 points and connected on all five of his free throw attempts. Sims also contributed four rebounds, two assists and two steals in the game.
 
Redshirt senior Jelani Pruitt produced a pair of season highs with 16 points and six rebounds off the bench, while senior Deionte Simmons tallied a season-high scoring total of his own with 13 points.
 
The Fighting Irish (3-0) also had three players score in double figures with T.J. Gibbs leading all scorers with 23 points.
 
CSU (1-3) closes its road swing on Saturday morning in Cedar Falls, Iowa when it takes on Northern Iowa live on ESPN 3 with the opening tip set for 11 a.m.
