Box Score CHICAGO – Juniors Anthony Harris and Fred Sims, Jr. teamed up to help lead the Chicago State men's basketball team to capture its home opener tonight at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center with a 101-53 victory over Silver Lake (Wis.) College.

The Green and White connected on 41 percent of their field-goal attempts in the first half en route to claiming a 40-29 lead going into intermission. The second half changed the trajectory of the contest as the home team shot a blistering 61 percent from the field and outscored the Lakers by a 61-24 margin for the final margin.

CSU held advantages over SLC in blocked shots (4-0), assists (22-9), steals (21-4), points off turnovers (51-5), points in the paint (62-14) and fast break points (26-6).

CSU opened the game with an early 2-0 lead at the 18:43 mark thanks to a jumper from senior Glen Burns before the host team went on a 20-2 scoring run in over four minutes to capture the lead that it would not relinquish.

Harris finished with season highs of 19 points and seven steals while shooting 6-of-10 from the field and drained all seven of his free throw attempts. Sims also recorded a season-best 19 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds to go along with two assists and two steals.

Senior Glen Burns shot 2-of-3 from the field and went 6-of-7 from the free throw line to add 10 points and dished out a game-high five assists, and fellow senior Deionte Simmons contributed nine points for the Cougars (1-2).

Silver Lake was led by Marcellus Duckworth, who finished the contest with 13 points.
