This Week: Chicago State women's soccer returns to Ray and Joan Kroc Stadium this weekend to open Western Athletic Conference play with a pair of games. The Green and White host defending WAC champion Seattle tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. before facing Utah Valley two days later on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Scouting the Cougars: The Cougars kick off their WAC schedule this week by sporting a season record of 1-12 following last Thursday's 5-1 loss at Valparaiso in their final non-conference game. CSU is paced by sophomore midfielder Mariela Alba (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) and freshman forward Jensyn Stanberry (Grand Haven, Mich./Fruitport) as both players have recorded team highs of five points and two goals apiece, while freshman defender Emily McGuire (Norco, Calif./Bonita) has posted a team-best two assists on the year. Junior goalkeeper Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron) leads the WAC in saves with 65 this season.

Scouting the Redhawks: Seattle comes to the Windy City with a 4-6-1 record into its conference opener at Kroc following last Saturday's 3-0 non-conference defeat at Utah Valley. Leading the Redhawks in scoring is sophomore forward Rebekah Ray with 15 points and seven goals, and sophomore defender Hannah Carrouthers has produced a team-high three assists. In goal, sophomore Mackenzie Curry leads SU with 28 saves, a goals against average of 1.86 and three shutout wins.

Seattle History: Seattle currently holds a 3-0 advantage in the all-time series with Chicago State since 2014. The Redhawks captured a 3-0 victory over the Cougars in a hard-fought battle at Championship Field in Seattle on Oct. 22, 2016.

Scouting the Wolverines: Utah Valley enters this week's conference-opening slate sporting a 4-9 record after defeating Seattle at home by a 3-0 margin last Saturday. Sophomore midfielder Breanna DeWall has recorded 11 points and four goals to lead UVU on the season with sophomore defender Hannah Bruce dishing out a team-leading five assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Brooklyn Nielsen leads the Wolverines with 21 saves and a 1.75 GAA.

Utah Valley History: The Wolverines have posted a 3-0 lead in the all-time series with CSU that included a 3-0 victory in Orem on Oct. 20, 2016.

Another First for the Cougars: Sophomore midfielder Miranda Coen (Howell, Mich./Howell) became the third CSU player this season to record her first collegiate goal this season after hitting the back of the net in last Thursday's game at Valparaiso joining freshmen Samantha Noonan (Ottawa, Ontario/Saint Francis Xavier) and Stanberry.

WAC Leader: Wisehart still ranks first in the WAC for saves and saves per game (8.12).

Up Next: CSU travels west for a pair of WAC contests next week which begins on Oct. 13 in Phoenix at Grand Canyon starting at 9 p.m.
