SCOUTING CSU – CSU heads into this week's action with a record of 5-15 on the season that includes a 1-3 mark in WAC play following last Saturday night's 65-50 defeat at Seattle despite receiving a team-best 18 points from sophomore guard Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale), who currently leads the team in scoring at 18.6 points a game and shooting 79 percent from the free throw line. SCOUTING RU – Roosevelt brings a season record of 9-12 into Wednesday's contest and has amassed a 5-7 record in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Lakers have captured victories in three of their last five games after posting a close 70-66 conference win at Holy Cross (Ind.) College last Saturday with junior forward Joshua Dillingham recording a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore guard Jake Ludwig leads RU in scoring (15.4 ppg), assists (4.2 apg) and steals (1.5 spg) on the season, while senior guard Korey Ryan is second on the team in scoring with 13 points a game. Dillingham is producing team highs of 8.1 rebounds a game and a .672 field-goal percentage to go along with 10.1 points per contest.

SERIES HISTORY – Wednesday's game will serve as the first regular season meeting between CSU and Roosevelt since the Lakers reinstated their athletic program in 2010-11. Both teams used to play each other regularly in the CCAC when CSU was a member of the NAIA in the 1970's and early 1980's. The last time the two teams met was in an exhibition game on Nov. 5, 2011 when the Cougars captured a 79-59 win at the JCC as Jeremy Robinson recorded 20 points, eight rebounds, five blocked shots and five steals.

SIMS, JR. NAMED WAC POW – Sims, Jr. was named WAC Player of the Week on Jan. 16 after averaging 21.5 points per game last week in leading the Cougars to a 1-1 record which included tallying his first collegiate double-double (25 points, 10 rebounds) last Thursday at Utah Valley. He is the first CSU player to receive the honor since Clarke Rosenberg won it on March 2, 2015.

MAKING HISTORY IN OREM – The win at Utah Valley last Thursday achieved several firsts for the Cougars as they captured snapped a 17-game WAC losing streak dating back to the end of 2014-15 and it is the first time that CSU has defeated the Wolverines on their home floor in 10 opportunities.

AIMING FOR A GRAND – Owens V is aiming to score 1,000 points in his Division I career as he has tallied 921 points between stints at CSU and Bethune-Cookman. He is now 79 points shy of achieving this feat heading into Wednesday's game.
