OPENING TIP – The Chicago State men's basketball team closes out its 12-game, month-long road swing on Friday evening when it takes on host Central Michigan in an ESPN3 live broadcast from McGuirk Arena in Mount Pleasant, Mich. with a start time of 4:30 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU – Chicago State brings a season record of 4-11 into Friday's contest after dropping an 80-61 decision at Valparaiso on Wednesday night with senior guard/forward Trayvon Palmer (Milwaukee, Wis./Brown Deer) leading three Cougars that scored in double figures as he produced team highs of 18 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Sophomore guard Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) leads CSU with 17.5 points and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 34 percent from three-point range and ranks third among the Western Athletic Conference scoring leaders. Palmer is currently grabbing an average of 9.1 rebounds a game with nine blocked shots to go along with scoring 14.6 points per contest and is shooting a team-leading 51 percent from the field. Senior guard Clemmye Owens V (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers) is recording 9.3 points per game and junior guard Glen Burns (West Memphis, Ark./West Memphis Christian) is dishing out a team-high average of 3.2 assists per contest.

SCOUTING CMU – Central Michigan, playing its first game in over a week, heads into its non-conference finale against CSU sporting a record of 9-3 while winning five of its last six games which goes back to Nov. 26 after posting a close 106-103 victory at Montana State on Dec. 21. CMU has the distinction of having the nation's leading scorer in guard Junior guard Marcus Keene, who is currently averaging 31.9 points a game in addition to dishing out a team-leading 5.2 assists per game and connecting on 51 percent of his field goal attempts. Senior guard Braylon Rayson is averaging a team-best 1.5 steals a game and is second on the team with 17.5 points per game, while junior forward Cecil Williams is grabbing a team-high six rebounds a game.

SERIES HISTORY – The Chippewas currently hold a 7-1 leading margin in the all-time series with Chicago State and Friday's meeting will be the first between the two schools in seven year. CMU captured a 78-40 win over the Green and White in Mount Pleasant in their last battle on Dec. 1, 2009.

NEW CAREER-HIGH – Sophomore guard Delundre Dixon (Rockford, Ill./Auburn) equaled his career scoring high Wednesday at Valparaiso when he tallied 12 points. Dixon is currently averaging 4.8 points per game while shooting 47 percent from the field.

LINEUP MAINSTAYS – Palmer and Sims, Jr. have been the only mainstays in the Green and White's starting lineup this season as both players have started all nine contests.

UP NEXT – CSU kicks off WAC play on Thursday, Jan. 5 when it takes on the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center in a live radio broadcast on WVON 1690 AM and the WAC Digital Network with a start time of 7:05 p.m.
