SCOUTING CSU – Chicago State comes to Vegas with a season record of 3-8 while looking to snap a five-game losing streak after dropping a 66-46 decision at Missouri State on Monday night. The Cougars, who have three players scoring in double figure averages, are led by sophomore guard Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) with an average of 17.3 points per game which ranks him fifth in the Western Athletic Conference. Senior guard/forward Trayvon Palmer (Milwaukee, Wis./Brown Deer) is grabbing a team-leading nine rebounds a game while averaging 14.3 points per contest, while senior guard Clemmye Owens V (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers) is recording 10.3 points per game. Junior guard Glen Burns (West Memphis, Ark./West Memphis Christian) is producing team leading averages of 3.9 assists and 1.4 steals per game on the year.

SCOUTING SEMO – Southeast Missouri State brings a 4-8 record into Thursday's battle and also looks to break a five-game losing skid after a close 81-78 road defeat at DePaul last Saturday afternoon. SEMO is led by senior guard Antonius Cleveland with 17.7 points and one blocked shot per game while shooting 56 percent from the field. Redshirt senior forward Trey Kellum is second on the team with 12.5 points a game to go along with a team-high 6.7 rebounds per contest, and freshman guard Denzel Mahoney is averaging 11.8 points per game. Senior guard Jamaal Calvin leads the Redhawks with 3.1 assists and 2.1 steals per contest.

SERIES HISTORY – Thursday's matchup between CSU and SEMO serves as the third all-time meeting between the two schools with the series tied at one game apiece. The Redhawks posted a 125-95 win in the teams' last meeting in Cape Girardeau, Mo., on Dec. 9, 1993.

PREVIOUS LVC HISTORY – This is the second time that Chicago State has competed in the Las Vegas Classic while posting a 2-4 record in the event. The Cougars finished 2-2 in the 2009 LVC with losses to Nebraska and Tulsa in the campus games before earning wins over Eastern Washington (62-53) and Wagner (78-53) at the Orleans Arena.

BIG BYRD – Junior guard Montana Byrd (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel) made the most of his first starting assignment of the season Monday at Missouri State as he tallied a season-high 11 points and also recorded a career-best two blocked shots in 29 minutes of play.

UP NEXT – CSU closes the Las Vegas Classic on Friday, Dec. 23 at Orleans Arena when it will take on either Troy or Cornell with a start time of either 2 p.m. or 4:30 p.m.
