OPENING TIP – The Chicago State men's basketball team heads up north to Rosemont, Ill. on Saturday afternoon as it takes on host DePaul at Allstate Arena in the first game for both teams in the 2016 Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic beginning at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the Fox Sports One Network with Jeff Levering (Play-by-Play) and Dickey Simpkins (Analyst) calling the action.

SCOUTING CSU – The Cougars kick off the Las Vegas Classic sporting a 3-6 season record while entering the seventh game of their current 12-game road swing. CSU had three players score in double figures on Wednesday night as it dropped a close 68-64 decision at Northwestern with sophomore guard Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) leading all scorers with 22 points that included going 7-of-13 from three-point range. Sims, Jr. is currently averaging a team-high of 18.3 points per game to lead the Green and White on the year so far. Senior guard/forward Trayvon Palmer (Milwaukee, Wis./Brown Deer) is second in scoring at 14.8 points a game in addition to grabbing a team-best nine rebounds and shooting 51 percent from the field. Senior guard Clemmye Owens V (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers) is the third CSU player averaging double digit scoring at 10.3 points per contest, and junior guard Glen Burns (West Memphis, Ark./West Memphis Christian) is producing team leading averages of 3.9 assists and 1.4 steals per game on the year.

SCOUTING DEPAUL – DePaul has posted a 5-4 record heading into Saturday's contest, but has dropped three of its last four contests in the month of December after losing an 80-75 home decision to UIC at McGrath-Phillips Arena on Wednesday night. Sophomore guard Eli Cain is averaging 20 points a game to pace the Blue Demons while shooting 50 percent from the field and 41 percent from downtown. Senior guard Billy Garrett, Jr. is dishing out a team-leading three assists per game while ranking second in scoring with 14.3 points a game. Junior forward Tre'Darius McCallum leads DePaul in rebounding (7.0 rpg), blocked shots (0.9 bpg) and steals (1.8 spg).

SERIES HISTORY – Saturday's contest marks the 15th overall meeting between CSU and DePaul with the Blue Demons holding a 14-0 advantage and both teams are facing each other for the seventh consecutive season. DePaul produced a 96-72 victory over the Green and White at Allstate Arena on Dec. 5, 2015 with Sims, Jr. leading CSU with a game-high 22 points off the bench.

S3TTING A SEASON-HIGH – The Green and White set a new season high for made three-point field goals Wednesday at Northwestern after connecting on 13-of-26 from downtown. Sims, Jr. hit a season-best seven triples for CSU, while Owens V and sophomore guard Anthony Eaves (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) each dropped a pair of triples.

AIMING FOR A GRAND – Owens V is aiming to score 1,000 points in his Division I career as he heads into Saturday's contest with 835 points scored in his Division I career at CSU and Bethune-Cookman. He is 165 points shy of achieving this feat.

TRAY'S DOUBLE-DIP – Palmer has been playing well over CSU's last five contests by averaging a double-double with an average of 15.8 points and 11 rebounds a game in addition to shooting 49 percent from the field and has connected on 31 percent of his three-point attempts.

UP NEXT – CSU heads back to the state of Missouri on Monday, Dec. 19 for the second game of the Las Vegas Classic against host Missouri State at JHQ Arena in an ESPN3 live broadcast with the opening tip set for 8:35 p.m.
