Eaves Scores Game-High 18 Points in CSU’s WAC Opener

CHICAGO – Freshman Anthony Eaves (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) tallied a game-high 18 points as host Chicago State fell to Seattle by a score of 66-50 in its Western Athletic Conference men's basketball opener this afternoon at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.

Eaves shot 8-of-11 from the field and 2-of-4 from three-point range while also recording a game-high three steals for the Cougars (4-13, 0-1).

The visitors opened the game with an early 11-1 lead in the first five minutes en route to claiming a 34-15 halftime lead. SU continued to hold its leading margin for the second half and took its biggest advantage of the contest at 24 points (55-31) with six minutes remaining in the stanza to gain the victory.

Redshirt sophomore Clemmye Owens V (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers) contributed eight points, while juniors Trayvon Palmer (Milwaukee, Wis./Brown Deer) and Quron Davis (Chicago, Ill./Simeon) each grabbed a team-leading six rebounds. Palmer also finished with a game-high three blocked shots and senior Kieran Woods (Chicago, Ill./Crane) matched Eaves with three steals.

Seattle (8-9, 1-1), who had three players score in double figures, were led by a pair of 12-point efforts from Jadon Cohee and Jack Crook.

CSU concludes its short homestand on Monday night as it welcomes CSU Bakersfield to the JCC with the opening tip set for 7:05 p.m.
