Volleyball Drops Two Contests at Bash at the Boro Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Chicago State volleyball team opened the Bash at the Boro Invitational here today with a pair of contests at Hanner Fieldhouse on the campus of Georgia Southern University. CSU dropped a pair of three-set decisions to Winthrop (18-25, 16-25, 16-25) and Tennessee State (17-25, 17-25, 15-25).

Junior Elli Woinowsky (Berlin, Germany/Merian Oberschule) led the Cougars with nine kills in the Winthrop match, while sophomore Arieta Vaimaona (Lauli'i, American Samoa/Faga'itua) added seven kills. Sophomore Corey Davis (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) dished out 23 assists and fellow sophomore Shontanae Addison (Little Elm, Texas/Wakeland) produced 12 digs.

Annalies Dockter recorded a match-leading 11 kills to lead the Eagles. Madilyn McCarthy and Carlie Skelton also tallied match highs with 29 assists and 13 digs, respectively.

In the TSU contest, Woinowsky and Vaimaona each recorded seven kills for the Green and White, while Davis recorded 15 assists. Addison posted 10 digs and junior Logan Miller (Palm Harbor, FL/Palm Harbor University) contributed four blocks (two solo, two assisted) to pace the CSU defense.

Tennessee State were guided by Chloe Watson's match-high 12 kills. Haley Hampton added 11 kills and a match-high five block assists, while Samantha Beltran dished out 36 assists and Madison Halterman finished the match with 23 digs.

CSU concludes the tournament tomorrow morning at Hanner Fieldhouse against host Georgia Southern with a start time of 9 a.m., central time.
