Women’s Golf in Sixth Place Following Day One of PGA Minority

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Chicago State women's golf has produced a first day score of 317 Friday at the PGA Minority Championships at the Ryder Course of the PGA Golf Club. Three-time defending champion Bethune-Cookman currently sits in first place after recording a score of 295.

The Cougars are led by sophomore Fernanda Valdes Solis (Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico/Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey), who shot a 75 that included a 37 on the back nine, while fellow sophomore Tali Letoi (Lakeside, Calif./El Capitan) carded a 77.

Freshman Pia Serrano (San Antonio, Texas/Antonian College Preparatory) shot an 82 and junior Taneka Sandiford (Nassau, Bahamas/St. John's College High School) posted an 83. Freshman TiAnna Ford (Roy, Wash./Yelm) rounded out the quartet by scoring an 86.

The second round of play begins tomorrow morning at 11 a.m., central time.
