CSU Women's Golf in Eighth after Round One at IPFW Spring Classic

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - After the first round of the IPFW Spring Classic, the Chicago State women's golf team sits in eighth place with a score of 338.
 
Hosted by IPFW at the Pine Valley Country Club, the course is being played at 6,011 yards. Indianapolis has a six-stroke lead, shooting a team score of 302. Aislynn Merling of Youngstown State leads the 64-player field by two strokes after shooting a 1-over-par 72.

Pia Serrano (San Antonio, Texas/Antonian College Preparatory) led the Cougars carding a 82 on the day to sit in 28th place. Two strokes back in a tie for 31st is Casey MacNeil (Massey, Ontario/Espanola). Taneka Sandiford (Nassau, Bahamas/St. John's College High School) shot an 85. Fernanda Valdes Solis (Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico/Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey) fired an 87 on the afternoon and currently sits in a tie for 43rd position. Tali Letoi (Lakeside, Calif./El Capitan) rounded out the scoring for the team with a score of 88.

As an individual, TiAnna Ford (Roy, Wash./Yelm) fired a 26-over par 97.

 
The final round of the IPFW Spring Classic will be today with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
