Chicago State Wins Against Conference Foe UTPA 78-73

Chicago State (6-19, 2-6 WAC) won 78-73 in conference play against UTPA (8-16; 2-6 WAC), Saturday afternoon at the Jones Convocation Center.

The first half was played closely, with no team leading by more than seven points. Despite hard-fought effort by both teams, CSU took a four point lead in to halftime, 31-27.

In the second half, the Cougars were ahead or tied for the entire half. Cougars pulled away with a 14 point offensive run to take a 57-42 lead with 7:32 remaining. UTPA fought hard to close the gap to eight points with 1:59 to play.

Clarke Rosenberg (Skokie, Ill./Evanston Township) was on fire shooting 5-5 from the three-point line and leading the Cougars with 26 points including 7 rebounds. Sean Hill (Chicago, IL/Harlan Community Academy High School) also contributed 17 points to the team total.

Chicago State continues at home, Saturday February 14 against Kansas City. Tip-off is set for 2:05 p.m
