The Chicago State women's golf team opened its spring slate Monday, competing in the first day of the Grand Canyon Spring Invitational at the Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona. The Antelopes' three-day invitational features 21 teams and 120 players.
Taneka Sandiford (Nassau, Bahamas/St. John's College High School) is in a tie for 28th after carding a 77 to lead the team in round one.
Casey MacNeil (Massey, Ontario/Espanola) is tied for 41st with 78. Freshmen
Pia Serrano (San Antonio, Texas/Antonian College Preparatory) came in with 81.
Fernanda Valdes Solis (Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico/Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey) posted an 82.
Tali Letoi (Lakeside, Calif./El Capitan) finished the day with an 87.
The Cougars are in 15th place following the first day of competition after team score of 30-over, 318. UC Riverside stands atop the team leaderboard after day one, as they put together a score of seven-over, 295.
