Box Score Chicago, IL - Chicago State (6-20, 2-7 WAC) lost 61-50 in conference play against UMKC (11-15, 6-3 WAC), Saturday afternoon at the Jones Convocation Center.
UMKC took command early and would lead by 14 points with 7 minutes to playi in the first half. The Cougars turned it up to close out the half as they went on an eight-point run to finish the first half only down by four points, 32-28. The free throws were a big positive in the first half for CSU, as they shot 8-8.
In the second half, both teams started slow with no baskets until three minutes of play. The Cougars trailed the entire second half but by no more than nine points until 32 seconds remaining when the lead jumping up to 12 points.
Joshua Batson (Chicago, Ill./Curie) would hit a free throw in the final seconds as UMKC earned the victory by 11 points 61-50.
Clarke Rosenberg (Skokie, Ill./Evanston Township) led the Cougars with a double-double, 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Anthony Glover (Toledo, OH/St. John's Jesuit) also contributed 9 points to the effort.
UMKC improves to 11-15 (6-3 WAC) while the Cougars fall to 6-20 (2-7 WAC). CSU have two upcoming conference games as the Cougars head to Bakersfield and Seattle next week.
