OPENING TIP – Chicago State men's basketball continues its three-game road swing Monday evening in Rochester, Mich. as it takes on another former Mid-Continent Conference foe in Oakland at the O'Rena on ESPN 3 with the opening tip set for 7 p.m., Eastern Time.

SCOUTING CSU – CSU brings a season record of 4-10 into Monday's contest following a week-long break after dropping a 91-74 decision to Marquette in Milwaukee on Dec. 21 despite receiving a season-best 26 points from freshman guard Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) The Cougars have three players averaging double figures in scoring with redshirt sophomore guard Clemmye Owens V (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers) posting team highs of 15 points and 4.6 assists a game. Junior guard Elliott Cole (Chicago, Ill./Powerhouse) and senior guard Kieran Woods (Chicago, Ill./Crane) follow Owens with averages of 10.6 and 10 points per game, respectively. Woods also leads the team with 1.9 steals per contest, while junior guard/forward Trayvon Palmer (Milwaukee, Wis./Brown Deer) is producing team highs of 8.1 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots per game for the Green and White.

SCOUTING OU – Oakland heads into the final week of 2015 sporting a 7-3 season ledger while winning four of its last six contests since Dec. 1. OU was last in action on Dec. 22 when it fell to top-ranked Michigan State in overtime by a score of 99-93 at the Palace in Auburn Hills with junior point guard Kay Felder recording 37 points and nine assists. Six players are producing double digit scoring averages for the Golden Grizzlies led by Felder, who is producing 26.9 points, 8.9 assists and 1.7 steals a game on the year. Redshirt senior center Percy Gibson is second on the team in scoring at 14.5 followed by redshirt sophomore forward Jalen Hayes at 12.5 points per contest with both players grabbing a team-best 7.9 rebounds per game.

SERIES HISTORY – Oakland leads Chicago State by a 14-5 margin in the all-time series between both teams that included a 70-57 win on Nov. 25, 2014 at the O'Rena as part of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic. Clarke Rosenberg (Skokie, Ill./Evanston Township) led CSU with 15 points and five assists.

SCORING SIMS – Freshman Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) has been a scoring machine for the Green and White over the last five games as he is averaging nine points per contest which includes a pair of double-digit point performances while shooting 56 percent from three-point range and 49 percent from the field. The 6-foot-4 Sims has produced 15 points a game over CSU's last three games.

CONFERENCE LEADERS – Chicago State currently ranks first in the WAC in steals (117 – 8.4) and made three-point field goals (110 – 7.9) per game.

DISHING THE ROCK – Senior Kieran Woods (Chicago, Ill./Crane) tallied a season-best six assists at Marquette on Dec. 21 to equal the most helpers by a CSU player this season. Junior Elliott Cole (Chicago, Ill./Powerhouse) also dished out six assists on Nov. 23 against Illinois.

SUCH THEIVERY - CSU has been one of the most efficient thieves in NCAA Division I this season as it ranks seventh among the national leaders in total steals with 117 and 33rd in steals per game at 8.4 thefts per contest. Last season, the Cougars finished 15th nationally with an average of 8.4 steals a game.

UP NEXT – CSU finishes off its road swing on New Year's Eve with an afternoon showdown on ESPN 3 against Ball State at Worthen Arena in Muncie, Ind., with the opening tip set for 2 p.m., Eastern Time.
