Men’s Basketball Falls at No. 7 Iowa State in Emerald Coast Classic Opener

AMES, Iowa – Chicago State men's basketball opened the 2015 Emerald Coast Classic here Monday night by falling by a score of 106-64 to seventh-ranked Iowa State at ISU's Hilton Coliseum.

CSU opened the game with an early 4-0 lead, but the Cyclones would post a 49-31 run for the duration of the first half to gain a 49-35 lead at intermission. ISU started the second half with a 13-0 run in the first four minutes and cruised to the easy victory.

Junior Elliott Cole (Chicago, Ill./Powerhouse) continued his good play from last week as he led three Cougar players in double figures with 18 points and added three steals.

Senior Jawad Adekoya (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) recorded 12 points, while fellow senior Kieran Woods (Chicago, Ill./Crane) tallied 11 points and dished out a team-best five assists. Junior Trayvon Palmer (Milwaukee, Wis./Brown Deer) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds for CSU.

Iowa State had six players score in double figures and was led by Jameel McKay's double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds.

Chicago State returns to the Jones Convocation Center for a short two-game homestand for homecoming week beginning Wednesday night against Indiana University Northwest with the opening tip set for 7:05 p.m.
