Box Score Kansas City, Mo.) - The Cougars (4-15, 0-2 WAC) jumped all over the 'Roos (6-13, 1-1 WAC) to open the game, scoring the contest's first 11 points. The 'Roos missed their first 11 shots, several of which were from close range. UMKC made a 21-4 run to take a 21-15 lead with 7:11 to play in the half.
After CSU cut it back down to three with 5:20 left, the 'Roos closed the period on a 15-4 run as UMKC owned a 37-23 lead at the half.
The 'Roos jumped out to a 44-27 lead with 15:39 on the clock, but CSU upped its defensive intensity, and UMKC couldn't hit a shot after that. The 'Roos didn't hit a field goal for more than seven minutes, and the Cougars got the margin down to as little as six with 8:24 on the clock.
The Cougars couldn't miss and rallied in the final 1:25, scoring 16 points, but UMKC held on for the win.
Clarke Rosenberg (Skokie, Ill./Evanston Township) paced the Cougars with 13 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
Anthony Glover (Toledo, OH/St. John's Jesuit) and
Trayvon Palmer (Milwaukee, WI/Brown Deer) both added 11 points to the effort.
CSU will face Seattle University at home on Thursday January 22
nd at 7pm. The game will be broadcasted on the American Sports Network.
