In their first ever year as a Division I Soccer program, the lady Cougars of Chicago State are initially encountering the inevitable turbulence that comes along with an inaugural season within any athletic realm.
While the results throughout the team's first eight games (1-7) may not have been what they envisioned after splitting their first two matches of the season, there is no doubt that the lady Cougars have an inordinate amount of resilience in them, and continue to find ways to build, progress, and create more chemistry with each day of the season that passes.
Coming off of a road loss to Indiana State last weekend, the Cougars find themselves back home at KRoc Stadium this Sunday
(1:00 PM CST), as they line up against Eastern Illinois (0-6-1), in what will be their final match before heading into conference play in the WAC, commencing next Sunday against UM-Kansas City.
Speaking on his young team's initial development and what he wants them to accomplish as the season unfolds, Coach
Tony Tommasi explained --
"The girl's outlook is still very positive, despite the recent results. They continue to train hard, and learn the college game as the season progresses"In looking forward to this weekend's contest on the pitch, and assessing their first conference opponet next weekend, Coach Tomassi professed --
"This is our last opportunity to fine tune our game before WAC play begins next weekend. Quite a challenge out of the gate playing UMKC who was in the WAC Final last year. We'll be ready to play hard." As Mentioned above, Chicago State's match this Sunday is slated for a 1:00 PM CST start, will be played at CSU's home field at the KRoc Center, and will be free of admission.
