HTML BoxHomewood, Ill. - The Chicago State men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss to the Valparaiso Crusaders on Tuesday afternoon (April 15) at the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet and Fitness Club.
Dave Bacalla of Valpo defeated junior
Julian Chavez (Bogota, Colombia/) 6-3, 6-2 and junior
Mario Noboa (Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador/) fell 6-4, 6-3 to Eric Honert. Junior
Sergiu Muresan (Roman, Romania/) succumbed to Charlie Emhardt 6-2, 6-3 while Lucas Waak was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over junior
Luis Ulloa (Guayaquil, Ecuador/). Junior
Rashley Yeremia (Jakarta, Indonesia/) and freshman
Uros Pajic (Smederevo, Seribia/Maple Valley) lost by the same score 6-0, 6-2 in their matches.
Bacalla and Oaks took care of Muresan and Noboa in doubles play 8-5. Honert and Dunn shut out Pajic and Ulloa 8-0 while Emhardt and Waak were victorious over Yeremia and Chavez 8-5.
The Cougars finished the regular season at 5-21 while Valparaiso improved their record to 17-7. CSU will wrap up their season at the Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M. (April 25-27).
