Men’s Basketball Preps For Trip To Costa Rica

The Cougars leave Aug. 10 for Costa RIca.
CHICAGO – The Chicago State men's basketball team will be heading to Costa Rica later this month for a foreign tour. The Cougars will be playing three games during the seven-day trip from August 10-16. Per NCAA rules, a program can participate in a foreign tour during the summer once every four seasons. The Cougars are also allowed 10 practices to prepare for the tour.
 
The Cougars will play Cartago, a Costa Rican club team on Aug. 12. Chicago State will take on the Costa Rica All Stars on Aug. 13 and 14.
 
"For most of the guys it is their first trip out of the country," Chicago State men's basketball head coach Tracy Dildy said. "It's a great opportunity to represent Chicago State, get better as a team and give the guys a once in a lifetime opportunity."
 
In between competition the Cougars will get to practice and sightsee in Costa Rica. The team has a rafting trip and zip line excursion on their itinerary. The Cougars will also visit a local orphanage and a hospital.
 
Chicago State is preparing for their first season in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The Cougars won the 2013 Great West Conference Tournament Championship last season and gained a berth in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
