BUFFALO, N.Y. – Chicago State men's tennis fell 7-0 to the Buffalo Bulls in a Mid-American Conference match on Friday (April 12). The contest was played indoors at the Miller Tennis Center.
The Cougars fought hard at doubles including a pair of close contests at No. 2 and No. 3. At No. 2 Buffalo's Vusa Hove and Yevgeniy Jason Shkodnik defeated freshman
Jean Paul Jones (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Cruz del Sur) and sophomore
Julian Chavez (Bogota, Colombia/) 8-7 (3). Akhil Mehta and Nick Sarlesd won 8-5 over sophomores
Rashley Yeremia (Jakarta, Indonesia/) and
Luis Ulloa (Guayaquil, Ecuador/) at No. 2.
Buffalo clinched the match with six wins in singles. Jones lost a No. 4 singles match to Sergio Arevalillo 6-3, 6-4. Ulloa fell at No. 6 to Mehta 6-3, 6-1.
Buffalo moves to 9-6 (3-0 MAC). Chicago State falls to 1-20 (0-3 MAC). The Cougars continue MAC play on Sunday (April 14) with an 11 a.m. start at Ball State.
