OREM, Utah – Despite 25 points from junior
Jamere Dismukes (Park Forest, Ill./Rich East) and 21 from
Nate Duhon (Lansing, Mich./Sexton), Chicago State men's basketball fell in a Great West Conference contest at Utah Valley 76-69 on Saturday (March 2) evening.
Dismukes' 25 points are the most by a Cougar this season. He made 10-of-17 attempts with six assists. Duhon was 9-of-12 from the floor.
Utah Valley ran out to a 22-10 lead in the first half but the Cougars pushed back to within one at 30-29 at the break. Junior
Matt Ross (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) opened the second half with a trey to give Chicago State their first lead since four minutes into the contest.

Quinton Pippen (Hamburg, Ark./Hamburg) put Chicago State up 47-42 with 12 minutes left. Then the Cougars went cold as the Wolverines compiled a 14-0 run to take control of the game.
"Utah Valley was picked to win the conference and are a good team,” Chicago State head coach
Tracy Dildy said. “I was proud of our fight tonight and we had our chances. If we have this fight over the next few games we could put a special run together in the Great West Tournament.”
Chicago State shot 50.9 percent (27-of-53) from the floor, a season-high for the Cougars in a GWC game this year. Utah Valley turned in a 40.7 percent (24-of-52) shooting performance. However the Wolverines made up for it by making 22-of-30 free throws. The Cougars made just 6-of-8 attempts from the charity stripe.
Chicago State falls to 8-21 (2-5 GWC). Utah Valley is now 14-16 (3-5 GWC). The Cougars close the 2012-13 regular season with a visit to Houston Baptist on Saturday (March 9).
