CHICAGO - A 22-0 second half run erased a one-point halftime deficit and propelled Chicago State to their third victory of the season defeating the Alabama State Hornets 67-54 at the Jones Convocation Center on Saturday (Dec. 8) afternoon. Four Cougars scored in double digits with three sharing the game-high tally of 15 points.
Chicago State's defense dominated the second half holding Alabama State to just 19 points on 32 percent shooting (8-of-25). During the Cougars 22-0 run, they held Alabama State scoreless for 10 minutes beginning at the 15:26 mark and ending at 5:03. Chicago State also held the edge in the rebounding department 36 to 26, with 12 of those rebounds coming on the offensive end accounting for 13 second chance points.
Offensively, Chicago State shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half which guided them to a 19 point lead with just over five minutes to play in the game. Sophomore Clarke Rosenburg (Skokie, Ill./Evanston), junior

Nate Duhon (Lansing, Mich./Sexton) (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Sexton/Lansing CC) added 10 points off the bench, while Pippen notched his first double-double as a Cougar adding 11 rebounds.
Chicago State held a 36-28 advantage in points in the paint.
“We came out in the second half and we had an emphasis that we wasn't going to settle for jump shots,” Chicago State head coach
Tracy Dildy said. “We thought we had an advantage in the inside and we did that. We were able to get them into some foul trouble.”
Chicago State gained their first victory against a Southwestern Athletic Conference opponent since defeating Southern on Dec. 17, 2008.
Alabama State falls to 0-6 while Chicago State improves to 3-8. The Cougars hit the road for their next contest when they visit Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore. on Dec. 16. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. PT. It will be the first of seven straight road games for the Cougars.
