Chicago State Too Much For Trinity Christian 87-61

Four Cougars finish in double-digits

CHICAGO – Behind 18 points, five rebounds and two blocks from senior Jeremy Robinson (Decatur, Ill./Eisenhower) (Decatur, Ill./Eisenhower/Iowa Western CC), Chicago State men's basketball defeated non-conference foe Trinity Christian 87-61 on Thursday (Nov. 29) evening at the Jones Convocation Center.
 
“One of our top goals is to take care of our home court and so far we've done that,” head coach Tracy Dildy said. “We're 2-0 at home and that is a main emphasis.”
 
Robinson finished 7-of-14 from the floor. He helped the Cougars shoot a season-best 58.8 percent (31-of-53) in the contest. The Cougars limited Trinity Christian to 38.3 percent (23-of-60) shooting.
 
Junior Quinton Pippen (Hamburg, Ark./Hamburg) (Hamburg, Ark./Hamburg/Missouri State-West Plains CC) delivered a season-high 17 points thanks to connecting on 4-of-6 from long range. Junior Jamere Dismukes (Park Forest, Ill./Rich East) (Park Forest, Ill./Rich East/BlackHawk College) added 13 points and six assists. Junior Markus Starks (Calumet City, Ill./Wirt (Ind.)) (Calumet City, Ill./Wirt) was the fourth Cougar to finish with double-digits, he had 10 points.
 
The Cougars put the game away with a 10-0 run during the final three minutes of the first half. Chicago State led by as many as 27 points and never trailed in the contest. The Cougars held a 43-22 advantage in points in the paint.
 
“This is a really good shooting team, our guys can shoot the ball,” Dildy said. “We have to establish that we have an inside game.”
 
Chicago State improves to 2-6. The Trolls are 2-6. Next up is a 2 p.m. CT visit to SIUE on Saturday.
