Notre Dame Pulls Away In Second Half 92-65 Over Chicago State

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Despite 16 points from sophomore Clarke Rosenberg (Skokie, Ill./Evanston Township) (Skokie, Ill./Evanston), Chicago State men's basketball fell at Big East member Notre Dame 92-65 on Monday (Nov. 26) evening.
 
The Fighting Irish made nine of their first 12 3-point attempts to open a double-digit lead in what was a one-point game eight minutes into the contest. Notre Dame built a 51-32 halftime lead but a quick start by the Cougars in the second shrunk the deficit to 13 points following a pair of free throws at 15:16 by Rosenberg. However the Fighting Irish put the contest away with an 18-0 run over the game's next seven minutes.
 
Notre Dame finished 12-of-22 from beyond the arc and shot 61.0 percent (36-of-59) from the floor. The Cougars shot 36.1 percent (22-of-61). Chicago State held a 15-10 offensive rebounding advantage. The Cougars committed nine turnovers while forcing 10 Irish mistakes.
 
“(Notre Dame head coach) Mike Brey is a technician and he will pick you a part,” Chicago State head coach Tracy Dildy said. “It is hard to come up with a defense that can stop everybody. It was like choosing the less of two evils.”
 
Juniors Jamere Dismukes (Park Forest, Ill./Rich East) (Park Forest, Ill./Rich East/BlackHawk College) and Aaron Williams (Chicago, Ill./Chicago Vocational) (Chicago, Ill./Chicago Vocational/Dodge City CC) each finished in double-digits with 11 points. Dismukes also added three steals.
 
Notre Dame was led by Jerian Grant's 22 points.
 
Notre Dame improves to 6-1. Chicago State is now 1-6. Chicago State hosts Trinity Christian on Thursday in a 7:05 p.m. CT start.
