TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Chicago State volleyball team concluded its season-opening weekend here Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-19, 25-17) defeat to Miami (Ohio) in the Quality Inn/ASICS Classic at ISU Arena. The Redhawks moved their record to 4-0, while the Cougars dropped to 0-4.
Leading the Green and White was junior Rachel Levitt (Willow Springs, Ill./Lyons Township)'s (Willow Springs, Ill.) eight kills and junior Sydney Van Munster (Hudsonville, Mich./Portland) (Hudsonville, Mich.) contributed seven kills. Freshman Angelica Brewer (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) (Indianapolis, Ind.) posted 13 assists and fellow classmate Mia Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) (Gardnerville, Nev.) contributed 12 digs for CSU.
Christina Menche paced Miami with 10 kills, while Amy Kendall dished out a match-best 28 assists and Madison Hardy added 19 digs.
Sophomore Mysta Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) (Gardnerville, Nev.) was named to the all-tournament team for the Cougars.
Chicago State is back in action this Tuesday evening with a road contest against Judson University in Elgin with a start time of 7 p.m.
