Cougars Close Regular Season with Great West Contest at NJIT

Senior Carl Montgomery recorded 15 points and a game-high three blocked shots in CSU's regular season finale at NJIT

NEWARK, N.J. – Chicago State men's basketball closed its regular season schedule and four-game road swing here Saturday evening with a Great West Conference contest at NJIT, but fell to the host Highlanders, 78-46, at the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center.

 

NJIT improves its record to 15-14 (9-3), while the Cougars saw their record drop to 6-25 (3-9) this season.

 

Leading the Green and White was senior Carl Montgomery (Chicago, IL/Shepard) (Chicago, Ill.), who scored 15 points, seven rebounds and a game-high three blocked shots. Senior Antonio Lofton (Chicago, IL/Parkland College) (Chicago, Ill.) contributed 11 points with a game-high eight rebounds, while seniors Archie Seals (Chicago, IL/Thornridge) (Chicago, Ill.) added seven points with four boards and two steals for CSU.

 

Senior Jheryl Wilson tallied a game-high 19 points in his final collegiate home game to pace NJIT, while junior Isaiah Wilkerson posted 17 points and junior Arjun Ohri contributed 12 points. Sophomores Chris Flores and PJ Miller each dished out a game-high six assists.

 

The Cougars head to Orem, Utah for next week's Great West Conference Tournament, held at the UCCU Center on the campus of Utah Valley University.
