CHICAGO – The Chicago State men's basketball team concluded its home schedule here Thursday night at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center with its Senior Night game, but fell to visiting Olivet Nazarene by a close score of 81-76. The Tigers improved their record to 18-9, while the Cougars dropped to 6-21 on the year.
In his final collegiate home game, senior Carl Montgomery (Chicago, IL/Shepard) (Chicago, Ill.) led four CSU players in double figures with 19 points and shot 7-of-12 from the field.
Senior Christian Wall (New Orleans, LA/John Ehret) (New Orleans, La.) tied a season high for scoring by posting 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, while senior Antonio Lofton (Chicago, IL/Parkland College) (Chicago, Ill.) recorded his second consecutive double-double with 16 points and a season-best 11 rebounds to go along with a career-high five steals and four assists for the Green and White.
Senior Jonathon Montgomery (Chicago, IL/Northern Iowa) (Chicago, Ill.) rounded out the scoring quartet with 12 points, including a 4-of-4 performance from the free throw line.
Olivet Nazarene was led by junior Antonio Marshall's game high 25 points and six assists, and senior Cory Hainlen posted 18 points. Senior Nick Klomstad finished with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Tigers.
Prior to the game, eight seniors were honored in a senior night ceremony for their accomplishments and dedication to Chicago State men's basketball program.
CSU begins a four-game road swing to close the regular season on Tuesday, Feb. 22 with a non-conference contest at Saint Louis with a start time of 7 p.m.
