CHICAGO – Junior Christian Wall (New Orleans, LA/John Ehret) (New Orleans, La.) and sophomore Kabangu Tshinga Kasamba (St. Catherine's, ONT/St. Francis) (St. Catherine's, Ont.) each scored a game-high 18 points in leading the Chicago State men's basketball team to a 76-69 victory over Texas-Pan American on its Homecoming game Saturday at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.
The Cougars improved to 7-17 and 2-5 in Great West Conference play with the win and the Broncs fell to 3-22 with a 2-4 conference mark.
Junior Carl Montgomery (Chicago, IL/Shepard) (Chicago, Ill.) posted a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds, while junior Jonathan Montgomery (Chicago, Ill.) added nine points. Junior Hajji Martin (Chicago, IL/Morgan Park) (Chicago, Ill.) recorded six rebounds and four points for CSU.
Freshman Aaron Urbanus led Texas-Pan American with 17 points and junior Julius Hearn added 15 points. Sophomore Matt Mierzycki finished the game with a double-double of 14 rebounds and 10 points.
The Cougars hit the road for three games this week beginning Monday night with a non-conference contest at Detroit starting at 6:05 p.m. The game will be streamed online via www.gocsucougars.com.
