CHICAGO – For the second game in a row, the Chicago State men's basketball team battled a Great West Conference team to the wire, but came up a little short as visiting Houston Baptist escaped the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center with an 85-83 overtime win Thursday night.
The Cougars dropped to 6-17 (1-5) on the year while the Huskies improved their record to 5-16 (4-1).
Junior forward Carl Montgomery (Chicago, IL/Shepard) (Chicago, Ill.) led the Cougars with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore Kabangu Tshinga Kasamba (St. Catherine's, ONT/St. Francis) (St. Catherine's, Ont.) posted a career-best 19 points.
