CHICAGO, Ill. — Chicago State University football reached another historic milestone Wednesday, hosting the first media day in program history as the Cougars continued preparations for their inaugural season.
Head coach Bobby Rome II, members of the coaching staff and Chicago State student-athletes met with media representatives to discuss the development of the program, preparations for the upcoming season and the excitement surrounding the return of college football to Chicago's South Side.
The event provided media members with an opportunity to hear directly from the coaches and student-athletes who will represent Chicago State during its historic first season. Participants discussed the team's progress during fall camp, the culture being established within the program and the significance of taking the field as the first football team in university history.
Wednesday's media day marked the latest step in Chicago State's journey toward its season opener against Roosevelt University on Saturday, Aug. 29. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois.
Before opening the season, the Cougars will welcome the public to an open practice Saturday, Aug. 8, on the Chicago State campus. Practice will take place on the baseball field, with fans encouraged to bring their own seating. Admission and parking are free at 7 p.m.
Chicago State will play five home games during its inaugural season, with each contest taking place at SeatGeek Stadium.
