CHICAGO, Ill. - The NEC has released their weekly women's tennis awards for the week of April 7. Chicago State's
Karolina Skowronska has been named as an NEC Prime Performer for the fourth time this season. Skowronska is coming off an 2-0 weekend in the Cougars only match of the week where they won their first match of the season against Mercyhurst University 6-1.
Skowronska won both her doubles and singles matches against the Lakers. In doubles number one, she partnered with
Mackenzie King to defeat Kiersten Brown and Simone Mercier by a score of 7-5 to help score the doubles point for the Cougars. In singles number one, Skowronska defeated Mercyhurst's Daria Rogova in comeback fashion. She fell behind 4-6 in the first set followed by a 6-2 win in the second set and then pulled off the third set tiebreaker by a score of 10-6. Skowronska finished NEC play with a 4-0 singles record and is now on a five game winning streak in singles play.Â
Karolina Skowronska and the Cougars close out the regular season with three matches this week. First, the Cougars battle Kansas State University on the road in Manhattan, Kansas with a doubleheader against the Wildcats with match one at 9:00 AM (CT) and match two at 1:00 PM (CT) on Wednesday, April 8. The Cougars then battle Northwestern University on the road in Evanston, Illinois on Sunday, April 12 on 5:00 PM (CT).Â
