Karolina Skowronska Named NEC Women's Tennis Player of the Week & Prime Performer

CHICAGO, Ill. - The NEC has announced their weekly women's tennis awards for the week of March 31. The Cougars played in three matches over the weekend with Junior Karolina Skowronska being named NEC Player of the Week and Prime Performer after her 5-1 record on the weekend, with a 3-0 singles record and 2-1 record in doubles play. This is Showronska second NEC Player of the Week award and her third prime performer recognition this season.

On March 27, against New Haven, Skowronska picked up a win in doubles number one with her partner Mackenzie King as they defeated Valentinna Ferrarini and Addison Rosser by a score of 6-4. Skowronska then went on to defeated Ferraini in number one singles 6-4, 6-4 to help notch two team points for the Cougars. 

The next day against LIU, Skowronska once against won in doubles one with King defeating Paula Guillen Cerver and Emma Barclay with a 6-1 final score. In number one singles, Skowronska defeated Ksenia Reznitskaya 6-1, 6-3 to bring her record to 4-0 through Saturday.

Skowronska completed her sweep in singles play on Sunday March 29 against Wagner with Skowronska defeating Victoria Madail 6-1, 6-4. With her lone loss coming in double one, she completed the 5-1 weekend and went 3-0 in singles play.

Karolina Skowronska and the rest of the women's tennis team will return to action on Friday, April 3 as they battle Mercyhurst University in a NEC matchup from Youngstown, Ohio.
