Eight Cougars Named to NEC Postseason Indoor Track & Field Teams

CHICAGO, Ill. – The NEC has released their Indoor track and field All-NEC, All Rookie Teams, and Coaching Staffs of the Year. The Cougars had six men's athletes earned NEC recognition, while two women's athletes earned recognition. Faustin Kaseba, Xavier Beatty, Ishan Cooper, Earnest Davenport, Jacob Draaisma, and Kendrick represent the men's track and field team. Makiyah Brewton and Lena Cleveland earned represent the women's track and field team.

On the men's side, freshmen student athletes Faustin Kaseba and Xavier Beatty were named to the All-Conference First Team after their conference championships. Kaseba was the indoor champion in the 60-meter hurdles winning with a time of 8.13. Beatty was the conference champion in the long jump leaping 7.11 meters.

Earning All-Conference Second Team is senior Ishan Cooper and sophomore Earnest Davenport. Cooper was the runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles behind Kaseba running 8.16. Davenport earned second team honors after jumping 2.09m to finish as the runner-up in the high jump.

Four freshmen Cougars were named to the NEC Rookie Team. Jacob Draasima was named to the second team after qualifying for the final in the Mile run and finished ninth running 4:20.51. Kaseba and Beatty were also named to the Rookie Team for their conference championships in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump. Finally, thrower Kendrick Scott was named to the rookie team after finishing fourth in the shot put throwing 15.66 meters.

The women's track and field team saw two Cougars earn NEC Indoor recognition. Makiyah Brewton was named to both the All-Conference First Team and All-Conference Second Team after her amazing performances. She earned first team after winning the conference championship in the long jump leaping 5.95 meters to earn the title. She also was named to the second team for the high jump after finishing as the runner-up with a leap of 1.67 meters. Brewton was also named to the NEC Rookie Team for her two performances.

Finally, sophomore Lena Cleveland was named to the NEC Second Team after finishing as the runner-up in the triple jump. The sophomore leaped 11.67 meters to claim the silver medal.

The Cougar track and field teams have begun their outdoor season and recently competed at the 2026 Raleigh Relays and will next compete at the Pacesetter Sports Invitational at Indiana State University from April 3-4 from Terre Haute, Indiana.
