Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. — Chicago State women's tennis competed against Illinois State on Sunday afternoon, battling through doubles and singles play before falling 6–1 at home.
The Redbirds secured the doubles point by taking wins on courts two and three. Chicago State's duo of Mackenzie King and Nikita Liyanage fought hard on court two, while Nadjema Morille and Danina Hughes faced a tough matchup on court three.
In singles action, the Cougars showed resilience across the lineup. Karolina Skowronska won the lone match on the morning at No. 1 singles position, while Camila Sanchez pushed her match to a deciding super tiebreak at No. 2 after splitting the first two sets.
Chicago State earned its point in singles play as multiple Cougars remained competitive deep into their matches, gaining valuable experience against a seasoned Illinois State squad.
The Cougars will look to build on Sunday's effort as they continue non conference play and prepare for upcoming matches.
