CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicago State University Cross Country teams are ramped and ready for the 2025 season. Director of Track and Field and Cross-Country Katrina Brumfield Marsom is ready to lead the Cougars on the rise for the season. Both men's and women's teams return some experienced runners to help lead their respective teams in 2025.
On the men's side, the team will be led by
Trevon Prince who the highest placed finisher for Chicago State at the NEC Championships last season. Prince is coming off an great outdoor track and field season last spring as he won the 800 Meter Run and won a member of the 4x400 meter relay team that finished third at the NEC Outdoor Championships. Prince will look to carry that momentum into the 2025 cross country season. Some freshman to watch out to contribute for Chicago State include
Jacob Draaisma and
Dean Solomon who will look to help lead the Cougars up come championship season.
On the women's side, the Cougars have graduate student
Weronika Stanczak, who returns for another cross-country season. Stanczak was the highest Chicago State finisher at the NEC Championship after a 28
th place finish with a 19:23.3 5K time. Stanczak also had a great Track and Field season last spring where she finished tenth in both 800 and 1500 meter runs at the NEC Outdoor Championships in May. She was also the lead off leg of the 4x800 meter relay who finished seventh. Some freshman to watch for on the women's team involved both
Joyline Jebiwott, Daisy Ruto, Alexis Fallejo, and
Haley Perez who will add to the depth of the team immediately.

The cross-country teams will begin their season on Friday August 29, as they travel to Champaign to compete at the Fighting Illini Open hosted by the University of Illinois.
