CHICAGO, Ill. - The NEC announced Wednesday their weekly cross country awards for the week of September 10.
Denis Kirui and
Weronika Stanczak were both awarded the title of Prime Performers this week.
Freshman
Denis Kirui (Kapsabet, Kenya) led the Chicago State men's cross country team with a seventh place finish out of 33 runners at the Huskie Classic last Friday evening. Kirui finished his 6K race with a time of 19:18.76 which is a personal best. He also was the top finisher for Chicago State for the second consecutive week.Â
Graduate Student
Weronika Stanczak (Gostyn, Poland) also earned prime performer honors after she led the Cougar women's cross country team with her 12th place finish out of 43 runners at the Huskie Classic. She ran a 5K time of 19:10.80Â which became a new personal best by 48 seconds and is off to a strong start in her final season. She was the top finisher for the second straight week for Chicago State.
Kirui and men's cross country team will be back in action this Friday September 12 as they compete at the Redbird Invite hosted by Illinois State University with the race beginning at 9:00 AM.Â
Stanczak and the women's cross country will return the course on Friday September 19 as they will head to Bradley University for the Bradley Intercollegiate at 5:15 PM.Â
