Chicago State Falls in Overtime Battle to Saint Francis, 80-71

LORETTO, Pa - Chicago State put up a strong fight on the road but ultimately fell in overtime to Saint Francis, 80-71, at DeGol Arena. Despite a stellar effort from Quincy Allen, who led all scorers with 22 points, the Cougars couldn't hold off the Red Flash in the extra period.

The Cougars came out aggressive, leading 32-26 at halftime, thanks to efficient shooting from beyond the arc. Allen and Noble Crawford combined for six first-half three-pointers, keeping Saint Francis on their heels. Matthew Robinson also played a key role, controlling the boards with 10 rebounds and contributing 10 points.

The Cougars had four players in double figures led by Allen's 22 while Noble Crawford added 16 points and was 4-of-5 from long range. Dailliss Cox added 10 and Robinson posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Gabe Spinelli also added seven assists.

Saint Francis found their rhythm after halftime, outscoring Chicago State 42-36 in the second half. Riley Parker led the charge with 22 points, including clutch free throws down the stretch. The Red Flash attacked the paint, scoring 38 points inside, compared to just 20 for Chicago State.

Tied at 68-68 at the end of regulation, Chicago State ran out of gas in overtime. The Cougars shot just 1-for-6 from the field and were outscored 12-3 in the extra period. Turnovers proved costly, as Saint Francis capitalized on 17 total Chicago State turnovers to pull away.

The Red Flash had four in double figures led by 22 points from Riley Parker. Valentino had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Chicago State (4-27, 4-12 NEC) will await their seeding for the NEC Tournament which begins on March 5.
