Box Score The Chicago State men's tennis team swept the doubles matches and rode that momentum to a 5-2 victory over Eastern Illinois Friday afternoon at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club in Homewood. The Cougars won by identical 6-3 scores at No. 1 and 2 doubles while No. 3 won 6-5 (7-4). In singles, CSU won four of the six matches, three by straight sets led by
Pedro Alvarez (6-1, 6-0), and including
Rodrigo Alves (6-3, 6-1) and
Zak Radziwillowicz (6-2, 6-1).
"We set the pace for the match in doubles," head coach
Jack Barton said. "Eastern jumped on us but the guys didn't lose focus and took control toward the end. We did very well in singles. I was proud of the guys commitment and enthusiasm in singles. It's good to get a win before another tough match."

The Cougars will be back on the court next Tuesday, March 12 with a pair of matches, hosting Montana State at 11 a.m. at H-F Racquet and Fitness Club in Homewood before facing Roosevelt at 7 p.m. at XS Tennis Village in Chicago.
