CHICAGO - The Chicago State men's soccer team faced off against the UIC Flames and suffered a 2-0 defeat.
In the first half, the Cougars were forced to defend as the Flames racked up eight shots to the Cougars two.
However, goalkeeper Marco Seyfert came up big and put up four saves to keep the game scoreless at the half.
In the second half, the Flames continued to press the Cougars and at the 72nd minute, UIC opened up the scoring at 1-0.
The Cougars attacked various times trying to tie the game up, forcing UIC's Andres Vasquez to make 5 saves.
Nonetheless, on a counter attack the Flames buried another one at the 78th minutes to increase their lead to 2-0, which was the eventual final as the Cougars could not find the back of the net.
The Cougars next face Michigan State on Monday at 6 p.m.

Chicago State volleyball recorded a historic season in 2021, with Yanlis Feliz becoming CSU's first volleyball All-American and head coach Tony Trifonov earning selection as WAC Coach of the Year. During that same season, three different CSU teams earned victories over Big Ten opponents with men's soccer beating Northwestern, women's basketball upending Wisconsin and volleyball, which established a school record 17 wins and hosted a post-season volleyball tournament for the first time in program history, swept Indiana in Bloomington.
