Boulder City, Nev. — The Chicago State men's golf team placed sixth at the 2021 Western Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship in Boulder City, Nev., at the Boulder Creek Golf Club (par 72, 7,482 yards).
Kevin Bullington was CSU's low finisher, riding the strength of a day-one 71, coupled with a 78 Saturday and 82 Sunday for a three-day total 231. He finished in a tie for 31
st.
In the team competition, New Mexico State earned the team title with a wire-to-wire win, shooting a +4 292 today (856, -8) to hold on for a one-stroke win over runner-up Grand Canyon (557, -7). Utah Valley placed third (863, -1), followed by UT Rio Grande Valley (871, +7), Seattle (878, +14), and Chicago State (+67).
Individually, Utah Valley's Gabe Lysen started the day one stroke back of two-day leaders Garrison Smith of New Mexico State. Lysen posted a 72 to claim a one-stroke victory over James Mackie of California Baptist. Smith shot a 75 and finished third at -6. The Cougars sent five players to the tournament but both
Grant Sell and
Joshua Stig were not able to compete due to injury leaving CSU short of the four required for team scoring.
Isaac Boore and
Keegan Easley both finished with a 239, +23, tied for 35th.

The CSU men's golf team will be right back on the course tomorrow, joined by the Cougars women's golf team, at the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship, which will be played at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, May 3-5. The tournament is a 54-hole, stroke-play Championship consisting of five divisions: Men's Division I, Men's Division II, Women's Team Division, Men's Individual and Women's Individual.
