Jethro Yumange Signs with Chicago State Men's Soccer

Yumange grew up in both Australia and Papua New Guinea

CHICAGO — Head men's soccer coach Trevor Banks has announced the signing of Jethro Yumange.

"Jethro is an exciting player out of Papua New Guinea," Banks said. "I'm excited that he is joining us in the fall. Jethro will add a significant amount of debt to the team. He brings a pedigree and professionalism second to none. I'm excited for him and his future with Chicago State."

Yumange was born in Papua New Guinea and moved to Perth, Australia when he was 10.

The midfielder first played at Meadow Springs Primary School before joining the Australian National Premier Leagues, where he competed for the Rockingham City Football Club in 2015 at the under-15 level.

In his first season with the club, Rockingham City amassed an unbeaten record, with Yumange serving as the leading scorer. Yumange then joined the senior team two weeks before his 16th birthday.

Yumange will join Chicago State's inaugural Western Athletic Conference roster in the coming fall.

"I chose CSU because of the diversity of players and culture we all bring," Yumange said. "We all share the same passion and goal. I think it's important for a team to have the same passion and goal as well as pushing and helping each other to be the best of themselves and have an impact together as a team. Coach Banks presented something I couldn't pass up, and I'm excited and looking forward to the fall."
