Box Score Valparaiso, Ind. — The Chicago State women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Valparaiso Sunday afternoon at The Courts of NWI in Valparaiso, Ind. The match marked the end of a busy week for the Cougars who played five matches in a span of a week.
Valparaiso swept each of the three doubles matches to earn the point.
Kristina Pukhaeva and
Katarina Drazic lost 6-3 at No. 1,
Sofiya Sedovich and
Susana Andres lost 6-0 at No. 2 and didn't field a pair at No. 3.
"Today was a tough one," associate head coach
Wyatt Pauley said. "We were limited with the amount of players we had available. Valparaiso played well and we weren't able to adjust in time for the singles or doubles."
In singles play,
Kristina Pukhaeva lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1.
Sofiya Sedovich who had a modest two-match win streak coming into the day, lost 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 at No. 2.
Katarina Drazic fell 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 3 and No. 4
Susana Andres dropped a 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) decision. The Cougars lost by forfeit at No. 5 and No. 6.
"It's the end of a long week for us and we're looking forward to resting up and being ready for Lewis University on Thursday," Pauley said.
The Cougars will have some time to rest after playing five matches in one week. The next action for CSU is Thursday, March 11 in Romeoville against Lewis University at 9 a.m.
