Box Score Park Forest, Ill. — The Chicago State women's tennis team dropped its second match in as many days, this time by a 7-0 count to Illinois State Sunday afternoon in Park Forest. The Cougars played in Peoria Saturday afternoon and fell to Bradley in its first match in nearly a year.
Illinois State won the doubles point, going 2-0, as Chicago State's
Diana Borodina and
Katarina Drazic lost 6-2 at No. 1 and
Katarina Dukic and
Susana Andres dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 2.
"Today was a tough match," associate head coach
Wyatt Pauley said. "We came up against a very prepared team. They were able to take the lead early, which made it very tough on us having to fight from behind."
In singles play,
Diana Borodina dropped her match at No. 1, 6-2, 6-1. At No. 2,
Kristina Pukhaeva dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision and
Katarina Drazic fell at No. 3, 6-2, 6-0. No. 4
Katarina Dukic dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision, No. 5
Lizi Morgoshia fell 6-2, 6-0 and No. 6
Susana Andres dropped a 6-3, 7-5 decision.
"We have some doubles and singles fundamentals we need to work on at practice this week, but well make sure to get it straightened out," Pauley said.
The Cougars next match is Tuesday, March 2 at UIC.
